As we all know Valentine’s Day, named after St. Valentine it is a day filled with love, care and happiness. To some it is a day to chill with their loved ones and to others it is a huge stereotype where people pretend to be who they’re not. We interviewed some students in the department to get their views on valentine and what they did on valentine. Most important what LOVE really is.
Medicine and surgery students have a life! Yes. At least some lol. Our distinguished MR ENYE, LINUS was interviewed exclusively, we got to know more about him, Social life, growing up experience , challenges and his personal/love life am sure you want to know ☺😆.

Love is an expression of warmth and comfort. It is satisfactory and as much as it can be warm and embracing, love is like a tornado. But I think love is actually underrated because people do not get to know it’s true worth and they don’t get to feel its full force.

As for the public celebration, It’s all about romance these days. And since the millenium age, much more about sexual intimacy.

Much like many concepts in the 21st century, its concept tends to get twisted and warped. But it still remains the greatest thing on earth. Love for a person, love for your work, love for humanity – you name it.
Love makes the world go round… in more ways than one…

Most of you know Mr Linus Enye. To some he is just a gross anatomy lecturer, and to most he is someone we all look up to. The Editorial team sat down with him on January 27th 2017 in his office for an exclusive interview. He discussed his educational background, his personal life, his life as an exam officer, love and valentine! ☺😆
EDITORIAL TEAM: Good morning sir, thank you for creating time from your schedule to see us.
EXAM OFFICER: Good morning, you are welcome. Please have your seats.
EDITORIAL TEAM: What state are you from sir?
EXAM OFFICER: I am from Edo state.
EDITORIAL TEAM: What local government area are you from sir/
EXAM OFFICER: I am from Esan South East local government area.
EDITORIAL TEAM: What year were you born sir?
EXAM OFFICER: (smiles) I was born on 13th April in the year 198.. ☺.
EDITORIAL TEAM: Sir, could you tell us about your educational background?
EXAM OFFICER: My educational background is just like any other educational background. Most people went to kindergarten and preschool but I did not because back then they were for rich kids. So from 1987 to 1991 I went to Anwaru islam primary school in Lagos. In primary 5, I was the library prefect and in primary 6 I was the senior prefect. I played football in secondary school but I was not a very sporty person. I had my bones broken and my nails removed among other things. I went to Anwaru islam college from 1991 to 1997 and I was the health prefect.
EDITORIAL TEAM: Sir, could you tell us about your university experience?
EXAM OFFICER: My university experience was actually really complicated. In 1998 I got admission to read medicine in university of illorin but that was the period most universities went on strike for sometime so university of illorin had to cancel the admission for that session. Fortunately, my uncle said the university of porthacourt had a pre-degree program but because I didn’t choose the university for the course I wanted to study they couldn’t give me medicine and that was how I got stuck studying anatomy but I didn’t take the course seriously till I entered 300 level because I couldn’t study the course I wanted which was medicine. But something happened one day that changed everything for me. Some “student pastors” came to preach to us in the university’s auditorium and they said something that spoke to me. They said “what makes you think the course you’re now is not what you’re meant to read” and from that point on I became serious. I have had to make some drastic decisions like deciding to give myself a carry over and the course was gastroenterology ( a physiology course) and I wasn’t ready for it so I didn’t appear for the exam and I knew this was risky because if I had failed it again in my final year ki would have had to stay back an extra year but I knew my work load would have reduced by then and when I wrote it again I passed. When I graduated from university of portharcourt in 2005, I started serving 2006 in Abia state. I already made up my mind that I was going into academics, so I met some lecturers and asked for their advice. One of them was professor Hakeem Fawehinmi the DVC of academics in uniport. I was then posted to the school of health in Aba where I served. When I was done I went back to Lagos to enroll for my masters in the university of Lagos and I got my masters in anatomy in September of 2010. I then dropped my CV at both afebabalola university and the university of ife. I don’t know if I got the job in Ife but when I came to ABUAD for my interview we were just 2 and the second person never showed. When I arrived they interviewed me and sent me to Afe himself who interviewed me along with two other lawyers and they told me they would get back to me. This was October-November and in January the secretary of the VC called me that I was meant to resume that day but i wasnt aware, no letter was sent and that was on the 2nd of January so I told her I was in Lagos so she said I could resume when I could the next day, I packed my things and came to ABUAD and I officially resumed on the 4th of January 2011.
EDITORIAL TEAM: Sir, what are some of your hobbies?
EXAM OFFICER: I love travelling, reading news, I also love watching football and I am an arsenal fan. I also love watching wrestling too.
EDITORIAL TEAM: Sir, what is your life as a lecturer like?
EXAM OFFICER: When I started lecturing in ABUAD the bulk of the work to develop their curriculum was on me and at that point I was sleeping in the VC’s office because of how late I worked . when I was leaving to start work in ABUAD my dad told me something that has stayed with me, he said “it’s only your work that can pay you.” If you’re good at your work, it will pay you and if you’re not good at your work it will also pay you but not in a positive way.
EDITORIAL TEAM: Sir, what is your life as an exam officer like?
EXAM OFFICER: Hmmm, life as an exam officer is stressful! Once exams starts, I tend to lose like 5kg. I have to be at all the venues and know them all off hand. I also have to know how many students are in a particular venue, what department they are and if anything is missing or the scripts are not enough or are too much or incomplete it’s on me.
EDITORIAL TEAM: Sir, its almost February and love is in the air. What is our view of love?
EXAM OFFICER: (smiles) I’m indifferent about it. If it is a workday I’ll come to work, go on with my normal routine and go back home. I’m not the party type so I don’t go out. Although I may treat myself to something nice.
EDITORIAL TEAM: Sir, what is our relationship status?
EXAM OFFICER: (smiles) Ah! That question should be for you not for me. I am not married though so let’s just say it’s complicated.
EDITORIAL TEAM: Sir what is your view on love?
EXAM OFFICER: I think love is a good thing. I don’t think love is blind like people say, you should love with your senses also not just your heart. There is usually a thin line between love and hate. You cannot say you love someone when medically you’re not compatible.
EDITORIAL TEAM: Sir, when you eventually get married, is your opinion about valentine going to change?
EXAM OFFICER: Definitely not, there might be some gift or emotional exchanges but that’s all.
EDITORIAL TEAM: Sir, what is your advice to students?
EXAM OFFICER: My advice to students is to always be yourself. Know your ability, know how you read and assimilate better. Make friends, you can have both good and bad friends. Don’t let them change you, have your own mind and stick to your decisions. Know what time to hang out with your bad friends and know when to be serious. To fail is not a crime, it is an opportunity to do better next time.
EDITORIAL TEAM: Thank you very much for your time sir. Have a great day.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
