ABOUT AMSA
WHAT IS AMSA?
AMSA in full means “ABUAD Medical Students Association”. This association was established
in 2012 with the aim of protecting and caring for the interests of it’s members, their welfare and
academic goals. This Association provides members with opportunities for them to thrive as
Medical Students of Afe Babalola University Ado Ekiti.
Our motto, Achieving Joint Greatness was inspired by the essence of the association itself
which is to provide medical students with a space where they can flourish and interact together
with a common goal, to achieve joint greatness without leaving anyone behind.
AMSA is an official sub group under NiMSA (Nigerian Medical Students Association) for
students in Afe Babalola University Ado Ekiti (ABUAD).
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
● Support and Unity: AMSA acts as a support system for medical students, exposing them
to like minded individuals sharing their pain and also their vision. AMSA at its very core
is a community that supports its own, and it does this by providing encouragement and
various forms of help to make the medical school experience a little easier.
● Improved Academical Experience: As a medical student association, AMSA naturally
has a focus on the academic well-being of its members. It tries to ensure as much as
possible that its members are up to bar by providing study materials and past questions,
organizing quizzes and tutorials, and also sharing experiences and tips from senior
colleagues who have faced similar troubles. This association has created an
improved learning space and experience and also increased students motivation and
level of interaction between fellow students in the body and also teachers.
● Welfare: From the start, AMSA has always been concerned about the welfare of its
members. Being aware of the stress associated with medical school, AMSA organizes a
variety of activities to help keep Amsaites afloat. We have fun trivias, quizzes, and
various sport events with prizes to be won. As well as newsletters and gossip columns to
keep you abreast of the latest gist or important information in medical school, along with
a ton of social events, like its annual dinner, parties and picnics. AMSA also organizes
mental health crusades and enlightenment activities to care for its members. All this is to
ensure that students have a learning environment where their mental health is not
compromised.
