New Year, Us and The Resolutions
Happy New Year to everyone and welcome to a new dispensation and a year of forging ahead and pushing to the next level.
Drawing out resolutions by January 1st and abiding with them is first hand difficult. The funny thing is we can all agree that New Year’s resolution is more of thoughts that we never realize.
In fact, by the 2nd week of January, our resolutions are flying out of the window and we are back to being who we are because well, transformative changes are difficult to actualize. Maybe it’s because we set the bar too high, or because change is hard to manage, or a little bit of both, but setting realistic goals for yourself is important, no matter the time of year.
Creating goals aren’t incredibly hard to implement into our life, That’s why determination exists in the dictionary. So, although there’s no way to focus on all of these all the time, here are basic things we are trying out in 2022 that are realistic right now.
WAKE UP EARLIER
The first thing we are doing this year is to let go of that spirit of turning off the alarm in the morning. Enough is enough. As important as sleeping seems, oversleeping gets us nowhere. Maybe if we didn’t sleep as much as we did last year, we would be on a yacht in Seychelles sipping our glass of “apple martini (this is impossible sha, na medical school we dey).
Time is money. Great achievements start from waking up early and having proper time management. Waking up early to chase your goals is very necessary. There’s no chance to oversleep this year. There’s so much potential to reach, waking up earlier would take us there.
TRY SOMETHING NEW
Even if it’s to try new food from the cafeteria (The niceness is not guaranteed) but yes this year, we are trying out new things. That fashion sense you are bottling up, it’s time to unleash the fashion icon in you. We are opening up ourselves to things we have never done before. This might be a chance of finding our forte and discovering a different version of ourselves we never knew existed. Authenticity comes from trial and error.
ZERO TOLERANCE FOR UNPRODUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS
All the unimportant talks we involved ourselves in last year, We are “outvolving” ourselves. Talks that won’t lead to productivity do nothing but cause jaw aches. We are not allowing ourselves to be a part of this anymore. We are going to be more deliberate on conversations we contribute in and share our 10 cents. We can’t let cheap talks drain our goodness and energy.
BETTER TIME MANAGEMENT
Procrastination is the thief of time or whatever they said. We are throwing that “I will do it later” in the bin, where it belongs. We are going to be the boss with our time. We will not be saying “later” “later” every time again. If it requires our urgency we are giving it our all. We will make better use of our time and give activities our swift action. There are too many things we never did because we thought to do it later. This year, we are doing better.
AVOID STRESS
Anything that wants to look like stress, dodge it. Anybody that is bringing stress, block them. There’s no thinking twice. The tolerance for stress ended last year. The only thing allowed to stress us is medical school, if you’re not our books, please use the door. We are not breaking a sweat or rubbing our mental health on the floor for anything at all. T for Thanks.
SAY NO TO RELATIONSHIPS THAT NO LONGER SERVE.
This year, it’s royalty treatment or nothing. Imagine a whole ‘spec’ being in a ship that is not sailing properly. Please we are getting down. We can’t allow ourselves to drown. Associating with the proper people would take us places we never imagined. Those places are our main goal for the year so there’s no time to be managing friendships, relationships, situationships, or classmateships that are not beneficial. We must put ourselves first and this is what we are doing without hesitation.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Asides from food, we are going to be reasonable with our spending this year. It’s a hashtag spend wisely year. We are taking our savings more seriously and preparing for the rainy days. “Insufficient funds” is a respecter of no one, so as rainy days not to beat the shit out of us, SAVE!!!
Anything that doesn’t bring money, bye. Sapa cannot be holding us, and you should be holding us too. We can’t be in a financial mess and still be doing things that won’t lift us out of it. So we need to go after the bag. If you won’t contribute to getting the bag then don’t come close. Don’t come and cloud our view and block us from seeing the front. We are open to business ideas and money-making map-outs.
PRAY MORE
We are starting and ending everything we lay our hands on with God. This journey can not be hitch-free without God’s intervention. Medical school can run you mad and we need God to keep us sane. So we would let go and Let God. God is taking the wheel and we will sit in the owner’s corner while putting in our hard work. For a blissful year, We are choosing God.
To round this up…
We are well aware that medical school is not all roses and champagne, the moments of thorns and blood out-stands the moments we get to have fun. This shouldn’t stop you from drafting out great plans for yourself. While studying hard to make the grades better, remember to choose yourself and enjoy every now and then.
